font size

Indonesia and the United States have signed a bilateral agreement for deferral of debt worth approximately 212 million US dollars as part of the US tsunami assistance, the US embassy in Jakarta said in a statement Wednesday.

The debt rescheduling deal was signed under the 2005 Paris Club memorandum of understanding, it said.

"This is an important show of support by the American people and the US government for Indonesia's efforts to recover from the tsunami tragedy," it said.
