Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing will attend the international conference on Iraq held in Brussels on June 22, a spokesman for the ministry announced Thursday.

Liu Jianchao, the foreign ministry spokesman, said Li was invited by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Foreign Minister of Luxemburg, the rotating EU presidential country, Jean Asselborn.

Over 80 countries and international organizations have been invited to attend the conference, which is co-hosted by the European Union and the United States, according to earlier reports.
