Senior CPC official calls for better work style, cleaner government

A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has reminded all discipline inspection and supervision officials at different levels of the extreme importance of improving the Party's work style and ensuring a government that is clean and effective.

Wu Guanzheng, secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, made the remarks at a Tuesday meeting in commemoration of the 100th birthday of Chen Yun, a late proletarian revolutionary and founder of China's socialist economy.

"The longer our Party rules, the more arduous will our work be in the battle against corruption and related transgressions," he said.

He said all the issues should be treated as critical both to the life and death of the CPC and to the stability and prosperity of China.

He urged discipline officials to enhance their sense of responsibility to promote a moral and efficient CPC.

"Currently and in the foreseeable future, our target is to stress and improve our capabilities in fighting corruption from its very source," he said.

According to Wu, the CPC has been gradually promoting openness and democracy.

All major issues, he said, must be decided after they are discussed by collective leaderships at various levels instead of being handled by a few high-ranking officials.
