China's top legislature to examine four draft lawsChina's top legislature, the Standing Committee of the 10th National People's Congress (NPC), will review four draft laws during a six-day session, which will begin June 26. According to the agenda proposed Friday by the chairman and vice-chairpersons of the 10th NPC Standing Committee, during the upcoming session, lawmakers will continue to deliberate on draft laws on property right, notarial services and the protection of women's rights, and draft regulations on penalties for offenses against public order,. Also during the session, the State Council will deliver the 2004 end of year financial report and the report on the 2004 central budget performance and other financial income and expenditure. The State Council will submit to the upcoming session for deliberation and approvement the treaty on judicial assistance between China and Brazil, the treaty on judicial assistance between China and Latvia, as well as the extradition treaty between China and Philippines. The enforcement report of law on water pollution prevention, made by a law enforcement inspection group under the NPC Standing Committee, and the report on food and medicine safety supervision, made by the State Council, will also be tabled for discussion.
