font size

China will further strengthen cooperation with Jordan in various fields, visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing said Saturday in Amman.

At a meeting with his Jordanian counterpart, Farouk Qasrawi, the two ministers exchanged views on current regional and international affairs.

China attaches great importance to Sino-Jordanian relations, Li said, adding that his country is willing to make concerted efforts with Jordan to maintain high-level contacts and exchanges, deepen political mutual-trust, broaden cooperation in the fields of trade, economy and education, and enhance coordination in international and regional affairs.

For his part, Qasrawi said the Jordanian government is ready to boost cooperation with China, noting that Jordan will adhere to the one-China policy and supports China's cause of reunification.

On situation in the Middle East and Iraq, both sides said the parties concerned should solve problems through political negotiations on the basis of UN resolutions, the "land-for-peace" principle and the roadmap peace plan.

China and Jordan will join the international community in supporting and taking part in Iraq's reconstruction, the two ministers said.

Li arrived here late Friday for a three-day visit to Jordan, the first leg of his five-nation Middle East tour, which will also take him to Israel, Palestine, Syria and Lebanon.
