NPC vice-chairman meets Chilean guestsRaidi, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, met on Monday in Beijing with a Chilean parliamentary delegation led by Senate President Sergio Romero. "The relationship between China and Chile has witnessed sound development since the two countries forged diplomatic ties 35 years ago," said Raidi. Citing the frequent inter-parliamentary high-level exchanges in recent years, Raidi expressed the hope that the legislative bodies of the two countries would further enhance their friendly cooperation "in various levels." As the Chilean delegation is scheduled to visit the Tibet Autonomous Region in southwest China from Tuesday, Raidi, the former regional government leader, briefed the guests on the autonomous region, which will celebrate its 40th founding anniversary on August 15.
