Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin and Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev hailed Sino-Moldovan relations on June 20 and pledged to adhere to the one-China policy and strengthen overall cooperation with China.
The leaders made the remarks during their separate meetings with Liu Qi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC.
The leaders of Moldova held the development of Sino-Moldovan ties in high esteem and reiterated Moldova's adherence to the one- China policy. They also called on the two countries to further boost cooperation in various fields and support each other in important international issues.
Liu said that their two peoples always have a traditional friendship despite the distance between the two countries. China attaches great importance to its friendly ties with Moldova and is willing to deepen the two countries' cooperation in all fields.
Liu also attended on the same day the signing ceremony of a Sino-Moldovan economic technology cooperation agreement, along with Xu Zhongkai, Chinese Ambassador to Moldova.
Liu arrived in Chisinau on Saturday for a goodwill visit at the invitation of the ruling Moldovan Party of Communists. The Chinese delegation will leave for a visit to Romania on Tuesday.
