Over 200 Macao credit cards at fraud risk
font size

A total of 232 Macao credit card accounts are "at fraud risk," local media reported Wednesday.

The Macao Post quoted sources from the credit-card giant of Visa International as saying that the concern was caused by the world's largest reported theft of electronic payment data.

Hackers have stolen 200,000 card-holders' data including names, account numbers, expiration dates and security codes from servers in the United States, according to published media reports over the past week.

A number of card-holders in Macao have been informed by local banks that their cards had been affected by the incident, the newspaper reported.

However, it added, the holders will not be culpable for any loss caused by the data theft.
