Chinese gov't never approves use of anti-viral drug for human use in prevention of bird flu

At a routine press conference held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a reporter asked spokesperson Liu Jianchao to comment on the report that Chinese farmers use anti-viral drug to cure bird flu, which has become a concern for the international community and media.

Liu said as learned from the Ministry of Agriculture, Chinese government has never approved application of anti-viral drug for human use in prevention of bird flu or other viral epidemic disease of animals. Based on the attitude that is responsible for human's health, the Chinese government will give serious punishment to any illegal use of the drug.
