African ruling parties laud China's reform & opening- up policy

Members of the visiting African ruling parties' delegation expressed on June 21 their appreciation for China's reform and opening-up policy, saying China has set a vivid example for vast developing countries.

At a seminar on strengthening China-Africa cooperation, Ji Yuxiang, secretary general of the Policy Research Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), introduced the African officials China's concrete measures and experience gained in its reform and opening-up.

The African officials, showing great interests in the seminar, raised questions and voiced opinions on issues concerning China's socialist market economy, family-planning policy, agriculture development, social security system as well as the relations between the Communist Party of China and the eight non-communist parties.

The seminar meets the need of the African ruling parties, said Allele Elhadji Habibou, a senior secretary of the National Movement for the Society of Development, the ruling party of Niger. "Through the seminar, we learned more about the history of China's reform and opening-up, the current situation and the direction of future development, which is of great value to us," he added.

Habibou also pledged to beef up non-governmental exchanges and cooperation to increase mutual understanding between Chinese and Africans.

Doualamou, first deputy speaker of the National Assembly of Guinea, said that Guinea will benefit from the experiences in China's agricultural development as his country has a more than 90 percent rural population.

About 20 representatives from the ruling parties of Cameroon, Djibouti, Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Madagascar, Niger, Rwanda, Seychelles and Togo attended the seminar.

Besides Beijing, the African officials will also tour northeast China's Heilongjiang and east China's Shandong provinces.

The guests are scheduled to visit Chinese state-owned enterprises, private companies, economic and technological development zones as well as agricultural and border trade projects.
