Jamaica will step up its cooperation with northwest China's Shaanxi Province in science and technology and education, Prime Minister Percival Patterson said in Xian Wednesday.
Patterson came to the ancient capital of Xi'an Tuesday evening from Beijing, where he arrived Sunday for a six-day official visit to China.
While meeting with Shaanxi Governor Chen Deming, Patterson expressed the hope for further exchange of experience in poverty alleviation with Shaanxi Province.
Chen said Shaanxi has a huge market for the development of energy, pharmacy, scientific research, education and machinery manufacturing. The governor said he was looking forward for increased cooperation with Jamaica in such fields in technology, resources and tourism.
During his stay in Xi'an, Patterson also visited the legendary life-sized terra-cotta warriors in the tomb of Qing Shi Huang, the first Chinese emperor, and the Shaanxi Historical Museum.
This is Patterson's second official visit to China as prime minister. His entourage includes senior government officials and Jamaican businessmen. Later Wednesday, Patterson will leave Xi'an for Shanghai to continue his China trip.
