A press conference was given by the Chinese Embassy in France in Paris on June 22, briefing on the latest development of "Li Li case", a Chinese girl student charged with grabbing business secrets from a French company, and making it clear that Li Li now has been released on parole by French police on June 20.

"The Chinese Embassy in France has been attaching great attention to "Li Li case, and our consuls have visited her upon her release on parole. Li Li has expressed her gratitude to the embassy," said the spokesperson with Chinese Embassy in France.

"L Li now is in the condition of temporary release on parole under French judicial control. I reiterate that Li Li is but an ordinary Chinese student in France. I hope relevant departments in France could handle the case appropriately as soon as possible so as to ensure her earliest return to school," added the spokesperson.

The 22-year-old Chinese girl studies science at Universite de Technologie de Compiegne in Paris. She started her probationary period before graduation with Valeo, an independent industrial group fully focused on the design, production and sale of components, systems and modules for cars and trucks. On June French police arrested her with the charge of grabbing business secrets from the company. Many French media have covered the incident. However, one procurator in charge of Li Li case noted that figures and information quoted by French media are incorrect.

According to a report carried on French newspaper La Liberation on June 21, Li Li from beginning to end insisted on her unawareness that the information she had copied was confidential because all the working staff there could see that. Additionally, she felt regret over the false TV report she watched in prison which accused her of being a possible "espionage". It is said that both French police and Li Li's university have denied all the false information quoted by these reports.
