Chinese State Councilor meets with Georgian guests

China hopes all countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will enjoy political stability, economic growth and social progress, said State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan in Beijing Wednesday.

In a meeting with Georgian National Assembly Speaker Nino Burdzhanadze, Tang said China respects the choice of the CIS governments and peoples.

"China is ready to make concerted efforts with the countries concerned to safeguard peace and stability in the Transcaucasia region, where Georgia is located, in a bid to achieve common development and prosperity," Tang noted.

The development of Sino-Georgian relations maintains a healthy and stable momentum, Tang said, appreciating that Georgia gives priority to developing relations with China in its external work.

Burdzhanadze said Georgia and China have bright prospects for cooperation, and Georgia is willing to join hands with China in further promoting bilateral ties.
