Merger with Unocal may take 2 to 3 months, CNOOC

China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) announces on June 23 that the proposed merger with Unocal Corporation may take two to three month to complete according to usual practice of international mergers, and the detail of future merger is hard to foretell.

CNOOC notes that international merger is a rather common commercial transaction and the US government should encourage such act as CNOOCĄŻs acquisition of Unocal Corporation. Both sides will have understanding provided mutual communication is ensured.
