Shanghai leads China's top 10 competitive cities

The Report on Development of Chinese Cities 2003-2004 was issued on June 24. It evaluates, on the basis of scientific standards and observation of the development process for the year, the comparative advantages and disadvantages of the 50 major cities in China.

Competitiveness drives a city forward. The report makes a quantitative analysis on the infrastructure, industrial structure, investment environment, etc., for the 50 cities.

The top 10 are Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Shenyang, Chengdu and Wuhan.

The report is prepared by China Association of Mayors and some one hundred experts make up the academic committee responsible for the report.
