Chinese state councilor meets ROK deputy PM

Chinese State Councilor and Secretary-General of the State Councilor Hua Jianmin met with Han Duck-soo, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance and Economy Minister of the Republic of Korea (ROK), in Beijing on June 24.

Hua said the two countries have carried out frequent high-level exchanges over recent years, with political mutual trust being ever enhanced and mutually-beneficial cooperation being ever deepened.

Hua hoped the two countries will continue strengthening the economic and trade cooperation which constitutes an important part of the bilateral relations.

China and ROK witnessed rapid growth in trade in recent years. In 2004, the volume of bilateral trade hit 90 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 42.4 percent. China is ROK's largest trade partner while ROK is China's fourth largest trade partner.

Han said ROK will further reinforcing the exchanges with China so as to deepen the cooperation of mutual benefit.

Han is here to attend the fifth meeting of China-ROK economy ministers in Beijing and the Sixth Asia-Europe Finance Ministers' Meeting to be held on June 26 in northern China's port city Tianjin.
