Olympic champion Liu Xiang will start a hectic competition schedule when the Chinese hurdler bounds for Paris on Monday for next weekend's IAAF Golden League meeting.
According to Saturday's Chinese Sports Daily, Liu will compete in all the six meetings of the Golden League series, which starts in Paris on July 1 and end in Berlin on September 4.
Liu's Golden League campaign will be sandwiched by his bid to win the title at the World Championships to run from August 6-14 in Helsinki.
Besides, the 21-year-old will also compete at China's tenth National Games in October and the following East Asian Games in Macau.
"The competition schedule is very tight, which will be a new challenge for me,"Liu was quoted as saying by the Chinese Sports Daily.
"But I wouldnot consider it a heavy burden for me, instead I will make the competition part of my training program, "he added.
It would be the first time for Liu to compete in all the six Golden League meetings, according to Liu's coach Sun Haiping.
"He would be very tired after the Golden League series ends. He used to run in one or only some of the series,"said Sun.
But Sun added that Liu could rise to the challenge, as he had competed in six events during 18 days, almost one event every three days on average.
"I think he could handle well such hectic competition schedule,"he said.
A jackpot of one million dollars is on offer for any athlete who wins his or her discipline in the six meetings of the Golden League meetings.
Liu, who equalled Colin Jackson's world record of 12.91 seconds in winning Olympic gold in Athens, has said he would go for the Golden League jackpot.
But Sun played down Liu's chances of hitting the jackpot.
"It would be fine if he could win at two or three of the six meetings," said Sun.
