The Australian government will provide 600 million US dollars for Sri Lanka's tsunami reconstruction and rehabilitation activities, the Sunday Observer reported on Sunday.
Australia will support Sri Lanka to overcome any challenge after the tsunami destruction to the country, High Commissioner of Australia in Sri Lanka Greg French was quoted as saying.
The grant will be mainly use to build houses in tsunami affected coastal areas in the eastern and southern Sri Lanka, He said, adding "The tsunami has demanded affordable, cost effective and high standard houses for Sri Lanka."
He added houses with the Australian low cost housing concept in the island country will be constructed by Hi-Tech Lanka Homes (Pvt) Ltd.
The company also provides wall paneling and fences independent of the main construction, allowing the customers to make their designs, if necessary, he said.
