Nevada hopes to attract more Chinese tourists
font size

Nevada Commission on Tourism China Office Saturday announced its plan to promote a new route for Chinese tourists to visit four west coast American cities in ten days.

The route will include San Francisco, Reno, Las Vegas, Los Angeles by exploring west cowboy hometown, Grand Canyon national park and Disney Land.

Tour operators predicted the cost of a ten day trip will be roughly around 17,000 yuan (2,000 US dollars). If the trip combined west and east coast together, the cost will be 26,000 yuan (3,200 US dollars) within 14 days.

Tourism is the biggest industry in Nevada, contributing 40 billion US dollars revenue to the state economy. Last year, Nevada hosted some 50.5 million Chinese tourists, more than expectation. Nevada also hoped to receive more Chinese tourists in the near future, said Lieutenant Governor Lorraine Hunt.

As the first American state to establish a tourism representative office in Beijing, Nevada valued Chinese market and planned to increase promotion in the second half of the year, such as advertisement campaign, and strengthen cooperation with Chinese travel agencies, said Bruce Bommarito, director of Nevada Commission on Tourism.

The world's entertainment center Las Vegas just celebrated its centennial birthday. Besides gambling, Nevada also boasted to be a conference place, said Karen Chen, chief representative of China Office.

Hunt said two nations began to hold talks on tourism cooperation since last year. Through bilateral endeavor, visa procedures will also be simplified in the next few years.
