Chinese top legislature hears audit report of 2004 central budget implementation

The Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, China's top legislature, Tuesday afternoon began to hear the audit report of the 2004 budget implementation submitted by the National Audit Office (NAO) of China.

In the past two years, the annual report was described by local media as triggering "an audit storm" because the report unveiled a large amount of embezzlement and malpractice in state departments.
