Taiwan enjoys $295.1 bln surplus in cross-Straits trade

China's mainland constitutes the largest market for the country's Taiwan exports and the largest source of Taiwan's trade surplus. Taiwan enjoyed 295.169 billion USD of favorable balance in the indirect cross-Straits trade which is valued at 438.185 billion USD in total by the end of May.

Taiwan sold 366.677 billion USD to the mainland and bought 71.508 billion USD from the mainland by the end of May.

The statistics based on the place of registration showed that by the end of May the mainland had approved 65,568 projects funded by Taiwan investment. 82.765 billion USD of Taiwan capital was involved in the contracts and 40.58 billion USD worth of Taiwan investment was actually used.

The figures were made public by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council at the press conference held on June 29.
