The newly appointed Hong Kong Chief Secretary for Administration Rafeal Hui pledged Thursday that he will "spare no effort" to work for the Hong Kong people during his tenure.

"I will spare no effort in complementing my work and serving the people of Hong Kong to the best of my ability during my tenure in the next two years," Rafael Hui said at a press conference.

Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region (SAR) Donald Tsang announced Thursday afternoon that the Central People's Government has approved his recommendation, appointing Rafael Hui as the Chief Secretary for Administration.

Hui previously worked in the government for 30 years with several important tasks and experience.

He emphasized the importance of unity of the new government. " It is of utmost importance that our new Government stands united, for it is only with unity that we can concentrate our efforts on serving Hong Kong people," Hui said, adding, "It is also through unity that we can achieve success in the shortest possible time."

Talking about his target in office, he said, "I hope that in the future, the SAR Government will operate in a highly efficient manner, maintain a level playing field for business, spearhead economic development, increase job opportunities, enhance the standard of government services, and make Hong Kong a better place for people to live and work. This is my main mission in the next two years."
