Satellite to be employed to monitor and control land use in China
font size

Lu Xinshe, vice ministry of Land and Resources declared on June 29 that China would set up a database monitoring the land use in the "Eleventh Five-Plan" period.

With the help of remote sensing satellite and on-the-spot investigation on the earth, the database, which will extend to the towns, can realise the real-time and dynamic monitoring over the appropriation, compensation and illicit use of farmland.

The remote sensing satellite can recognise the farmland, barren hill, forest and building in per square meter on the earth, and provide accurate information on land use. The information will be issued on the Internet for the public's supervision.
