Suits not needed for Beijing public servants this summer
font size

It is no longer a must for public servants in Beijing to wear suits and ties at internal meetings, according to a notice on water and electricity conservation for government departments issued by Beijing municipality.

From July 1 to August 31, air conditioners at party and government departments of all levels should be set no lower than 26 degrees Celsius. The notice suggests that public servants not wear suits and ties at internal activities and meetings. In the past, public servants were required to do so, which added burden to the air conditioners in the hot summer. To save electricity, the government departments have to start from trifles therefore it makes such suggestions.
