A Chinese tourism image advertisement, namely, "Welcome to China - 2008 Beijing" was aired on Nepal TV Friday for the first time, according to an official of China National Tourist Office Kathmandu.

The 30-second advertisement, produced by China National Tourism Administration, is going to be shown on Nepal Matro channel before 8 o'clock news daily in the following four months, Ma Yili, executive director of China National Tourist Office Kathmandu, told Xinhua.

"This is the very first time China promotes its tourism image in Nepal," Ma said.

The short video introduces China's beautiful landscape, natural and cultural relic and folk custom to the Nepalese people, covering the major factors of tourism, which are catering, accommodating, transporting, sightseeing, shopping and entertaining, he noted.

The advertisement reveals the abundant tourism resources of China especially world natural and cultural heritages such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, the Potala Palace, the Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses in Mausoleum of First Emperor of Qin Dynasty and the Longmen Grottoes.

"Showing of this advertisement is an effective step China National Tourist Office Kathmandu has taken to promote Chinese tourism overseas," Ma said.

"On the platform the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, cutting in with the tourism image of China, the video enables the rest of the world to better know the economic development of China, the peaceful and healthy life of Chinese people and the fast pace of Chinese tourism industry," he said.

On the other hand, it is also a gift dedicated to the golden Jubilee of the establishment of China-Nepal diplomatic relations, he added.
