Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra left Beijing Friday evening for south China's Guangdong Province, continuing his three-day official visit as guest of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.
Born to a well-off Chinese-Thai business family in the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai, Thaksin said he would visit Meizhou City of Guangdong Province, where his mother used to live during World War II.
"When the Chinese people see a Thai leader and so many entrepreneurs come to China to pay homage to the place where their ancestors have once lived, they will understand that the Thais and Chinese are from one family, and they are relatives," said Thaksinin an interview with Xinhua prior to his China tour.
Thaksin arrived here Thursday and held talks with Premier Wen Jiabao earlier Friday, during which they signed several documents for bilateral cooperation.
