As many as 56 Nepali kids were killed in conflicts in the first six months of this year, a study revealed Kathmandu Sunday.
Out of the children killed, 33 were boys and 23 were girls, said the study conducted by a non-governmental organization, Community Study and Welfare Center.
The findings covering all the five development regions in the country revealed that these children were killed by abandoned bombs and land mine explosions or shot dead by anti-government guerrillas.
The study urged the warring parties to refrain from careless actions and fully adhere to the international norms to unarm civilians, including children.
It also emphasized the urgent need to compile complete information and other details on the maimed, wounded, separated, abandoned kids and orphans in the country.
The study suggested that support and care services should be simultaneously launched at a greater speed to cater to the needy children.
