Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen arrived in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province, on Sunday morning for the upcoming second summit of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Economic Cooperation Program.
Laotian Prime Minister Boungnang Vorachit has already arrived in Kunming earlier on Sunday. The prime ministers of China and Myanmar are expected to arrive here later on Sunday, while the prime ministers of Vietnam and Thailand will arrive on Monday.
The second summit of the GMS Economic Cooperation Program is to be held from July 4 to 5 in Kunming. The GMS program was initiated by the Asian Development Bank in 1992 to promote the development of the Mekong river valley and the cooperation between nations along the river. The first summit was held in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia in 2002.
