Tibet strives to develop agriculture with plateau ecological features
font size

Tibet has a vast land with few people and sparse vegetation. For a long time, local farmers and herdsmen have been sticking to an extensive production system of agriculture and animal breeding, in which farming depends on nature and grazing is not carefully developed. This burdens the weak ecological environment with great pressure. In order to increase the income of the farmers and herdsmen, to protect the ecological vegetation of snowy plateau, the government of Tibet Autonomous Region is making huge investment in developing effective, green and ecological agriculture according to its resources edge. Now, the autonomous region has implemented many integrated projects such as high quality white cashmere goats, Tibetan pigs and chickens, yak industry, grass planting and animal feeding in agricultural and pastoral areas in Naqu, Ali, Linzhi, Shannan, and Lhasa etc. The projects have increased annual per capita income by 300 yuan for farmers and herdsmen.
