Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao proposed on Tuesday in Kunming to establish a Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Health Forum to coordinate and promote health cooperation in the area.

Wen made the proposal while addressing the opening ceremony of the Second GMS Summit in this capital city of southwest China's Yunnan Province.

"We need to intensify cooperation on the prevention and control of avian flu, HIV/AIDS and other major communicable diseases," he said.
