China Tibetan Cultural Week to be held in HK

The "Pearl of Snow Plateau -- China Tibetan Cultural Week" will be inaugurated in Hong Kong on July 15 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Tibet Autonomous Region.

The cultural week is jointly sponsored by the Information Office of the State Council, the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the people's government of the Tibet Autonomous Region.

During the week, there will be a grand exhibition of photos, tangkas and cultural relics, a ceremony of "Abhiseka" and performances given by Tibetan's Song and Dance Ensemble.

The exhibits include 100 board exhibits, over 500 photos, 50 Tangkas and 60 pieces of cultural relics, which will display in all perspectives about Tibet including its geographical location, population, scenic spots, natural resources and environmental protection.

The arrangement of the Tibetan Cultural Week has won support ofthe Hong Kong Buddhist Association, Phoenix Satellite Television Co. Ltd and many other arts and religious groups in Hong Kong.
