A scroll of "Zheng He Navigational Chart" released in Tianjin
font size

The chart plotting experts of the Chinese navy have recently completed plotting and editing of a six-meter-long scroll of "Zheng He Navigational Chart".

The chart is plotted through processing and editing on the basis of the navigation time of Zheng He's fleets. This is the earliest navigational chart in China, as well as the earliest navigational chart in existence in the world.

There are two editions of this newly edited "Zheng He Navigational Chart", the ancient one and the modern one. Both editions are six-meter-long scrolls. The ancient edition is plotted in Chinese traditional landscape three-dimensional way of painting, on which the seven sea routes of Zheng He's fleets are marked. These sea routes are also clear at a glance in the modern edition, which is done in modern chart plotting way.
