Dollar locked in upper 111 yen in Tokyo

The US dollar hovered narrowly in the upper 111 yen level Wednesday in Tokyo with its upside capped by sizable selling following its recent rapid rise to a fresh 11- month high in the 112 yen level.

At 5:00 p.m., the dollar was quoted at 111.63-65 yen, compared with Tuesday's 5:00 p.m. quotes of 111.68-78 yen in New York and 112.02-04 yen in Tokyo.

It moved between 111.46 yen and 111.70 yen during the day, trading most frequently at 111.60 yen.

The euro was quoted at 1.1941-1943 dollars and 133.30-34 yen, compared with 1.1905-1915 dollars and 133.06-16 yen at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday in New York.
