Chinese Vice Premier Huang Ju Thursday expressed the hope that Exxon Mobil Corporation of the United States will step up cooperation with Chinese companies in the fields of energy and petrochemical industry.

Huang made the remark during a meeting here with Exxon Mobil Chairman and CEO Lee R.Raymond.

He spoke highly of successful cooperation between China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec) and Exxon Mobil Corporation, saying that China's accession to the World Trade Organization ( WTO) provides a sound opportunity and platform for Chinese and American companies to expand cooperation.

During the meeting, Huang briefed the American guests on China's economic development and its reform and opening to the outside world.

Raymond expressed admiration to the achievements that China made in economic development and especially in the field of energy industry. He said his company places great importance on the cooperative project with Sinopec and is willing to continue to widen the scope of cooperation.
