Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met Friday with Vladimir Zhirinovsky, chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia and vice-chairman of the State Duma.
Wang and Zhirinovsky recalled the history of friendly exchanges between the Chinese and Russian people and fully acknowledged the progress that has made in various fields in the development of China-Russia relations in recent years.
They also valued highly the ratification of a supplementary agreement between China and Russia on their eastern border by the two parliaments not long ago and Chinese President Hu Jintao's successful visit to Russia from June 30 to July 3.
Besides, Wang and Zhirinovsky exchanged views on further boosting the friendly exchanges between the parties of China and Russia and enhancing bilateral cooperation on major international and regional issues.
