Al-Qaida claims responsibility for London bombings
font size

Al-Qaida, in an internet statement on Saturday, claimed responsibility for bombing attacks in London, the Qatar-based al-Jazzera TV channel reported.

The statement said "a group of mujahedeen from a division of the Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades piled blow after blow on the infidel capital, the British capital, leaving dead and injured." The authenticity of the statement could not be immediately verified.

This was the second claim of responsibility after the attack. Shortly after Thursday's bombings, a statement from the "Secret Group of al Qaida's Jihad in Europe" said it was behind the attacks, but the claim could not be verified either.
