The 2005 international summit on architecture and decoration will be held on October 22, in Beijing, said an official with China's architecture and decoration association.

It's an urgent task for China's architecture and decoration sector to boost the country's architecture design level, Xu Peng, secretary general of the association, said here Friday.

One of the main subjects for the summit is to boost the concept of "green decoration", referring to providing healthy, comfortable, and safe activity space to people, with efficient usage of energy and environment pollution alleviation realized.

Xu noted that "green decoration" concept embodies the idea of sustainable development, recycling economy promotion and building well-off society in the all round way.

The summit is expected to provide platform to expand exchanges between Chinese architects and their foreign counterparts to improve the overall competition capability of Chinese architecture industry.
