Grenada Prime Minister Keith Mitchell said on Saturday he would like to learn the experience of Guizhou Province, southwest China, in reducing poverty.
Keith arrived in Guiyang, the provincial capital, from Beijing on Saturday. It is his first China visit since the two countries resumed diplomatic ties last January.
At a meeting with Guizhou provincial governor Shi Xiushi, Kieth expressed the hope that Grenada would enhance exchanges and cooperation in poverty elimination.
As one of China's underdeveloped provinces, Guizhou has made notable progress in fighting poverty, with the impoverished population reduced from 10 million in the 1990s to 3 million, said Shi.
Currently the poverty-reduction work of the province is focused on improving the conditions for livelihood and production in the poverty-stricken areas while strengthening technical training and elementary education there, Shi added.
Mitchell is expected to continue his China visit in Shanghai, China's economic hub, on Sunday.
