US State Secretary Rice kicks off China visit

United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrives at Capital International Airport in Beijing, capital of China, on July 9, 2005. Rice on Saturday began her second visit to China since she took office last January as the US secretary of state. On Sunday, Rice is expected to confer with Chinese President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao, and State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan, while holding talks with Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing, according to sources with the Foreign Ministry. Sino-US relations and the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue are expected to be major topics.
