Local advisory bodies urged to improve work

The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top advisory body, held a meeting Saturday to mark the 10th anniversary of rules on democratic supervision of state affairs.

CPPCC National Committee Chairman Jia Qinglin said at the meeting that local people's political consultative conferences should strive for institutionalizing their performance, a major job to improve the multi-party cooperation and political consultative system led by the Communist Party of China.

Apart from democratic supervision, the people's political consultative conferences are also entitled to participate in and deliberate on state affairs.
