KMT Vice-Chairman vows to upgrade cross-Strait trade

Chiang Pin-kung, Vice-Chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang Party (KMT), said that the KMT will take measures to further promote the smooth development of the cross-Strait trade relationship.

Chiang made the remarks when meeting with Wang Rong, Secretary of Suzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province on July 10.

Chiang was invited to the opening of a new sub-association set up at a high technology district under Taiwan Compatriots Investment Enterprises Association of Suzhou. Before this, he had attended a Cross-Strait Forum on Industrial Standards in the Information Industry in Beijing.

There is no reason for Taiwan to be absent from sharing the achievements of the rapid economic development made by the mainland, Chiang said.

The cross-Strait relationship has been remarkably improved since KMT Chairman Lien Chan's visit to the mainland, Chiang said. The Taiwan businessmen in the mainland have felt the changes brought by the improved cross-Strait relationship.

The peace and stability in the cross-Strait relationship can help maintain the stability in the Asian-Pacific area and the KMT will further promote the relationship towards peace and stability, he said.
