Tanzania's trade fair nets 162 million dollar exports, imports

The 29th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) has garnered 162.05 million US dollars worth of import and export orders prior to its closure on Sunday.

Export orders for Tanzanian goods and services amounted to 87.72 million dollars while import orders for foreign goods and services were 74.33 million dollars, according to the Tanzanian Board of External Trade.

The volume of export and import orders was slightly lower compared with that of last year's DITF, said Kusirieli Mwasha, director of research and planning of the board of external trade.

However, the director said that the nine-day trade fair also chalked up a domestic order for goods and services worth 2.3 million dollars and an on-the-spot sales of goods of 5.23 million dollars.

This year's version of the trade fair series, inaugurated in 1965, drew more than 300 exhibitors from 13 countries.
