Chinese defense minister stresses friendly cooperation with Romanian army

Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan stressed the friendly cooperation with the Romanian army on July 11.

The Chinese army and Romanian army have kept close exchanges and cooperation for a long time, Cao said in a meeting with Eugen Badalan, chief of General Staff of the Romanian army.

Cao, also vice-chairman of the Chinese Central Military Commission and a state councilor, said that the Chinese army highly values the development of ties with the Romanian army and adopts an active attitude toward promoting traditional and friendly cooperation with the Romanian army.

"We are willing to work along with the Romanian army and maintain a healthy, long-lasting and steady cooperation between the two armies in the new century," Cao said.

Romania is a good and old friend of China and people of the two countries enjoy a profound and traditional friendship, he added.

Badalan said Romania is willing to develop a friendly and cooperative ties with China in an all-round way, including military relations.

The Romanian army will continue to boost exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese army, he said.
