Hi-tech foreign trade scores $180-odd bln in first half year

As learned from the Ministry of Commerce, for the first half of this year, China's imports and exports of hi-tech products reached 180.26 billion USD, rising 26.2 percent over the same period of last year.

Specifically, China imported 86.74 billion USD of hi-tech products, and exported 93.52 billion USD, up 19.9 percent and 32.4 percent respectively.

From Jan. to June China's foreign trade on hi-tech products experienced faster growth than the country's foreign trade as a whole and was gaining momentum every month. In January, the hi-tech trade was 2.2 percentage points faster than the growth of the total foreign trade. The difference widened to 4.7 percentage points in June.

The 30-odd percent growth of hi-tech exports echoed a basically same pace of rise for the country's total exports and resulted in trade surplus for the ninth consecutive month.
