Japanese royal couple visits Aichi Expo China Pavilion

Japanese Emperor and Empress paid a visit to the China Pavilion at the Aichi Expo on the afternoon of July 13.

The royal couple first watched the performance by the Sunlight Girls band who played the Chinese music Jasmine with Chinese traditional instruments, and the Japanese music Red Dragonfly. The royal couple then came to the cultural relic display cases where they appreciated precious Chinese cultural relics that had been sealed underground for thousands of years.

The royal couple also appreciated the 74-meter-long and 9-meter-high relief wall as they walked along the spiral footpath, browsing through the renowned cultural symbols of ancient China: the Terracotta of the Qin Dynasty, the seismograph invented by Zhang Heng in 132AD, the movable-type printing invented by Bi Sheng and the famous painting Qing Ming Festival by Zhang Zerui in the Northern Song Dynasty etc.

In front of Shanghai's screen Chinese Ambassador to Japan Wang Yi told the Emperor that the 2005 Aichi Expo provides China with good experience for hosting the Shanghai Expo in 2010. The Emperor expressed to Ambassador Wang Yi his hope for the success of the Shanghai Expo.
