UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan was successfully operated on to repair a sporting injury to his left shoulder, UN spokeswoman Marie Okabe announced on Friday.
The injury occurred during a sporting accident this past winter while Annan, 67, was cross-country skiing, the spokeswoman noted.
The operation, on a rotator cuff, took place in a New York area hospital and Annan later returned to his residence, Okabe said, adding that it was expected that the Secretary-General would be recovering at home for at least some days next week.
