President of EU Commission leaves Beijing for Shanghai

President Jose Manuel Barroso of the EU Commission left Beijing for Shanghai Saturday morning to continue his five-day official visit to China.

During his stay in Beijing, Barroso discussed Sino-EU relations and issues of mutual concern with Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao, according to diplomatic sources.

This is Barroso's first visit to China as president of the EU Commission. After Shanghai, Barroso will visit Macao and Hong Kong.
