Hong Kong Disneyland came a step closer in the search for its First Family Sunday as 25 local families competed in a fashion show for one of 15 invitations to the final contest.

The First Family contest is a time-honored tradition, a special part of every Disney theme park opening dating back to the opening of the first Disney park in 1955.

Contestants were invited to show off their creative outfits for the opening day of the theme park on the stage, which were designed to reflect the energy, fun and unique personality of each family.

During Sunday's competition, 15 families was selected as finalists, who would enter the final stage of the contest by participating a game show in August.

The First Family winner would enjoy the privilege of participating the Hong Kong Disneyland Grand Opening ceremony and receive a Walt Disney Company red pass allowing each family member one year free access into Disney theme parks in Hong Kong, France and the United States.
