Another Cabinet member has resigned, the 12th government officials leaving President Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo amid political crisis on her electoral fraud allegation, a local radio reported Monday.
Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office director Vicky Garchitorena told radio dzMM that she has tendered her resignation on July 7 because she was dismayed by the tape scandal that rocked the Arroyo presidency.
However, she expressed her support to the constitutional process of removing the president.
On Sunday, the government announced the resignation of Communications Director Silvestre Afable, who will still remain the chief governor negotiator with the Muslim rebel group, "Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
Afable denied that his leaving was related to the current political crisis, saying that he wanted to focus on the country's peaceful process.
On July 8, Former Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima and the other 9 Cabinet members collectively resigned and called Arroyo to do the same.
Despite the opposition's call, President Arroyo has defiantly refused to step down, saying she has committed no crime and did not manipulate the results of the May 2004 presidential election.
