China's mainland began to show off its agricultural cooperation with Taiwan at an exhibition fair in Shanghai Monday.
The cooperation achievements on display involve agricultural products from the processing industry, crop growing industry, fishery, aquaculture, livestock husbandry and gardening, along with another 19 series of tropical fruits and 287 series of deep-processed agricultural products.
"The fair has attracted 235 exhibitors from Taiwan, nearly one-third of all the exhibitors, the most ever at a fair held on the mainland," said a spokesman of the sponsors -- the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, the Ministry of Commerce of China, the Ministry of Agriculture of China and the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China.
Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said in his congratulatory letter to the fair that he hopes to see more cross-Straits collaboration and the "beautiful future of the Chinese nation."
Kao Koong Liann, a member of the Chinese Kuomintang think tank also attended Monday's opening ceremony.
A forum on agricultural products and cross-Straits trade will also be held during the three-day fair.
